Who: Christy Morgan
Where: Dallas, TX
What: A vegan chef and cooking instructor, who just released her first cookbook, Blissful Bites: Vegan Meals That Nourish Mind, Body, and Planet.
Here are 10 things that make Christy happy:
Mexican Cuisine: Being from Texas, my favorite cuisine would have to be Mexican. I could eat chips, salsa, and guacamole at every meal. Japanese and Thai food are tied for second favorite cuisine.
Global or NHS Chef Knife: A good knife is your most important tool in the kitchen. It’s a lifetime investment so spend the money to get something you love. Go to a restaurant supply store and try different ones to get the right feel and fit.
Le Creuset Spatula: Le Creuset makes some of my favorite cooking tools. I love their enamel coated cast iron pans, the stockpot and especially the silicon spatula. A must have tool!
Lifefactory glass beverage bottle: I take this bottle everywhere with me. I prefer glass over plastic and stainless steel because it doesn’t change the taste of the water. It’s easier to clean too.
Dresses with leggings: This is my favorite outfit to wear throughout the year, except for summers in Texas. Pair it with some cute vegan boots in the winter. It’s the most comfortable outfit for travel as well, which I’ve been doing a lot of lately.
Underground Supper Clubs: Supper clubs are all the rage and vegan ones are popping up all over. I’ve had the pleasure of attending one in Austin and in the Bay area and I have 2 friends doing them in LA. I adore trying new foods spotlighting seasonal produce, which usually these supper clubs do.
Vegan Bloggers: I recently attending the first ever vegan blogger conference, Vida Vegan Con. It was such an amazing experience and I was surrounded by compassionate, joyful vegans making a difference in the world.
Zumba: This dance craze is one of my favorite ways to exercise while having fun at the same time. If you haven’t tried Zumba I highly recommend it!
Farmer’s Markets: I enjoy going to farmers’ markets and getting inspiration from them for new recipes. Each chapter in Blissful Bites is divided into seasons to be a seasonal eating guide for you. Enjoy the bounty that Mother Earth provides!
Nutritional Yeast: I’m kind of addicted to this stuff. I sprinkle it on everything! Blissful Bites uses it and there are two delicious cheesy sauces made from it. You’ll love them!
